Oblique Movement Strategies

Oblique Movement Strategies is a collection of 100 movement prompts, cues, and movement opportunities intended to provoke thought and change perspectives around movement and exercise.

Inspired by (and sometimes direct translations of) Brian Eno's Oblique Strategies card deck, Oblique Movement Strategies is a numbered list of 100 random prompts--some overtly movement-related and some not-so overt--that can be applied to existing exercises like squats, deadlifts, handstands, etc or used to inspire creative movement opportunities.

All you have to roll a d100, find the corresponding prompt from the list, and begin your exploration! Consider the prompt, and apply it to adjust the intensity, complexity, or very nature of the movement you're doing.

Oblique Movement Strategies is an expansion for Arcane Exercise, though you do not need any other books from the Arcane Exercise series to use it.

What is Arcane Exercise?

Arcane Exercise is a system and tool agnostic lens that uses game design theory to simplify the process of understanding exercise-based movement. It uses common TTRPG vernacular, game mechanics, and an old school fantasy aesthetic.
