Iron Gods
The year is 1987.
It's the golden age of bodybuilding, and you are a bodybuilder--a devoted lifter who spends hours every day sculpting your body. The gym is your home and your fellow lifters are your family. You're surrounded by big muscles, permed hair, fast cars, copious drugs, and heavy lifts. Everyone is jacked, juiced to the gills, and perfectly tanned.
You train at New Venice’s premier bodybuilding gym, Tommy’s Shred Shack. A new miracle drug called the Juice has been circulating the gym, and it’s not quite clear what it is: anabolic, growth hormone, testosterone booster…no-one knows, but they don’t care–the gains are too good. All anyone knows is that the gym manager, Sven, runs a lab out of the gym, and it’s where the good stuff comes from.
One evening you show up for your second workout of the day, but something isn’t right: no-one is at the front desk, it's too quiet, and there’s a strange noise coming from inside the gym...
WHAT IS IRON GODS?
Iron Gods is a body horror dungeon crawl set in a neon-soaked 1980s bodybuilding world. Think professional wrestling meets Cthulhu mythos, or Body Snatchers set in Pumping Iron. It operates on the Liminal Horror system: a rules light, d20 roll-under hack of Cairn and Into the Odd. Characters become gradually more mutated as they descend into the mouth of madness inside of a local bodybuilding gym in search of something evil beyond imagination.
Roll up a buffed out bodybuilder to delve into the muscle dungeon using unique roll tables for things like favored body parts, best lift, lifter philosophy, and more. Fight off custom monsters, use the Juice, risk corruption, and become a mutated muscle monster who may or may not prevent the MUSCLE-POCALYPSE!
